It is a process whereby a copy of the original is restored to the condition of when it was first printed.

Nowadays the copy is usually better than the original due the DIGITAL retouching process. Photoshop software is employed to create stunning results, not possible before with conventional techniques.

With over 30 years experience Paul has embraced the digital way of restoring photos since 1992 starting with the 2nd edition of Adobe Photoshop ©, photo imaging software.

In the past, it was a lot more time consuming than just working with airbrush, brushes and pencils. After the first copy of a photo and retouching, it was necessary to reproduce it again in order to integrate the fragile artwork on the surface back into a finished photo. These two copy procedures always diminished the overall quality compared to the original.

Today the photos are scanned or digitally photographed so pixels can be altered accordingly to the operator's intent. STATE OF THE ART computer equipment is used to speed up workflows.

Paul has a great personal interest in technological advances. Fantastic results are possible now to resurrect faded, discoloured, ripped or photos that have been effected by silverfish, acid spots from strip glue photo albums, mice/cockroach droppings or stuck to the glass through moisture. Direct contact with sunrays fades and flood and fire damages photos every day.
